Hari Om Parents!
We started with 3 OMs followed by the opening prayer "Sahanavatu", Ganesha, Saraswati and Guru shlokas. Then We moved to chant the 1st & 2nd verses of Gītā dhyānam.
We started with the main curriculum "Yato Dharma Tato Jayah" lesson plan this week.
Started with Mahabharata facts - rapid fire.
Followed by the topic of the day "What is Karma?", Who gets the results of the action taken?, what is Law of karma?
Before discussing the law Karma, discussed about what are the other types of law we have in the world like Man-made laws, universal law / scientific law to correlate the Law of Karma.
It was a good discussion with the children about how karma affects the doer- they face the consequences of their actions- right away or in time. We also talked about actions and consequences as applied to all the participants in a given event. Please refer the snippet of kids answers on Karma:
We will continue to talk about this with reference to episodes from the Mahabharata, so we request parents to please make sure the children learn the stories well.
We will post more resources for this in the WhatsApp group. We then went to the temple hall as this week we had the House Inaugural program.
8th graders are assigned as House Captain to lead / work with the other younger kids. Almost all of the kids wore their house color dress and were ready to participate in the Ganesh Utsav activities.
Each house kids were grouped to do Ganesha idol, 'toran', 'sajavat', 'modak', and participate in the Ganesh Pooja and followed by Ganesh idol's procession and immersion, and everyone enjoyed the activities. It was an unique experience for the kids and all of us.
