Hari Om Parents!
We started with 3 OMs followed by the opening prayer "Sahanavatu", Ganesha, Saraswati and Guru shlokas.
This week we learnt about Lord Vishnu. (Book reference - Art of God Symbolism by Swami Chinmayananda ). After kids shared what they know about Lord Vishnu and Avatars, primarily we discussed the weapons( cakra, Sankha, gada ) and lotus that he holds in his four hands and what is the significance of it and how it's related to our life.
We did yoga for few minutes to warm up ourselves and moved on to do an activity with Mahabharata episodes to brainstorm to write Cause , Effect and lesson Learned from those episodes. Class was divided into 4 groups to do the activity. After 15 min each group shared their details and we discussed whether the angle in which the kids expressed their viewpoint make sense for that episode or need more context driven view. Except one group, the others did a good job.
Please remind the kids to read Mahabharata from chapter 10 - 15 before Sunday as they need to know the events and characters to continue these class activities/discussions.
Time to do the Gita chanting chapter 5, started with verse 2 & 3. Chanted together while a video recording of Swami Shantananda Gita chanting was played.
Later the kids did the Likitha Japa quietly for a few minutes. Overall we had a good and very interactive class. After the closing prayer went to arati.
