Dec 15, 2024 - Grade 7 (Sunday AM)

Dear Parents,

Hari: Om!

In this week's class, we explored the pivotal events surrounding Bharatha's return to Ayodhya after King Dasaratha's passing. The story provided rich lessons on duty, leadership, and familial bonds, and the children actively participated in thoughtful discussions.

Here's an overview of what we covered:

Bharatha's Return to Ayodhya

  • Bharatha's heartbreak upon learning about the events in Ayodhya:
    • The profound loss of his father, King Dasaratha.
    • The absence of Rama, leaving him without his brother's wisdom and counsel.
    • The weight of responsibility thrust upon him as the rightful heir to the throne.
  • Seeking guidance from Queen Kausalya to navigate his grief and responsibilities.
  • His decision to convince everyone in Ayodhya to accompany him to the forest and persuade Rama to return.

Journey to Find Rama

  • On his way, Bharatha had to convince Guha, the devoted boatman, and Bharadvaja Maharishi that his intentions were pure and he did not seek to rule Ayodhya but to bring Rama back.
  • These moments highlighted Bharatha's humility, sincerity, and steadfast devotion to his brother.

Engaging Questions Discussed in Class

The children shared their perspectives on these thought-provoking questions:

  1. What would you do if you were Bharatha?
  2. If you were Bharatha, how would you convince Rama to return?
  3. If you were Rama, why would you still want to keep your promise?

These discussions allowed the children to reflect on the values of integrity, selflessness, and commitment, as exemplified by both Rama and Bharatha. It was heartening to see the depth of understanding and curiosity among the children as they connected the story's themes to their own lives.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to exploring more of the Ramayana in the upcoming sessions!

Warm regards,
Keerthi and Rahul
