Hari Om Parents
We covered the thirteenth year of the exile of the Pandavas where they had to live in disguise.
- With the warrior Kícaka dead, the Kauravas decided to attack Virata's kingdom.
- Kaurava defeat in the battle against the Virata kingdom on the last day of their disguise revealed the identity of the pandavas
- Pandavas ask their kingdom back but Duryodhana refuses
- War is inevitable. Arjuna seeks the help of Krishna to become his charioteer while Duryodhana seeks Krishna's army
- Lessons Learned
Do not have an evil mind
Greed breeds disaster
Grab an opportunity for peace
Be on the side of Krishna
- Later on war commences. Arjuna has cold feet looking at all his beloved relatives standing in front of him as opponents. Then Krishna explained that it is a battle not between cousins, but between Dharma (righteousness) and adharma (unrighteousness). He also explained to Arjuna the goal of human life and the path to attain this goal. THat constitutes the Bhagavad Gita
- Before the battle began, Yudhishtra went to Bhishma and Drona to get permission to fight against them and get their blessings. This shows his reverence to the elders. This behavior resulted in Pandavas winning the war.
- With their respectful behavior Pandavas earned Bhishma's love. He gave his secret that he can only be killed by a woman.
- Ultimately all the Kaurava brothers, Drona get killed. Abhimanyu and all of Pandava's children get killed also.
- Gandhari had blamed Krishna for the death of her hundred sons and cursed Him, saying that His Yadava clan would be annihilated. Krishna explained to Gandhari that her sons died as a result of their own negative actions, but had accepted her curse.
