Feb 28, 2025 Class Summary
In class today, we began with our opening prayers, followed by a quiz covering all the topics we have discussed so far on Hindu culture. The children were divided into teams of two or three and actively participated. One team emerged as the winner, answering 8 out of 9 questions correctly and earning 6560 points, while the runner-up closely followed with 6520 points.
After the quiz, we did a shell meditation, which the children enjoyed. It helped them refocus and brought a sense of calm to the class.
Next, we explored Shodashopachara Pooja, the 16-step ritual worship offered to deities. We discussed each step, including Avahanam (inviting the deity), Asanam (offering a seat), Padya (washing the feet), Arghya (offering water), Achamana (giving water for sipping), Snana (bathing the deity), Vastra (offering clothes), Gandha (applying sandalwood paste), Pushpa (offering flowers), Dhoopam (offering incense), Deepam (offering a lamp), Naivedyam (offering food), Tambulam (offering betel leaves), Aarti (waving the lamp), Mantra Pushpam (offering sacred hymns), and Pradakshina Namaskara (circumambulation and salutation).
We also brainstormed ideas for our class play in April, discussing possible themes and roles for the students.
Finally, we concluded the class with the Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 5 Verses 14-16.
