Feb 9, 2025 - Grade 1 (Sunday AM)

Hari OM Dear families.

Here is this week's update.

 

Week: 15

9th Feb 2025 / 9:15AM

Our class and grade kindergarten were combined as we had an overall less number of attendees in Balavihar after an icy-snow wintry mix from Saturday night. In many areas ice conditions were worse and unable to clean up.

We had a decent number of children who attended, and we had a combined class. Thanks to Veda aunty and shreya didi, the teachers of grade K.

We participated well in grade kinder as we learned the curriculum last year.

We did shlokas as usual and also had a game time.

Today our topic was Obedience and Prayers.

Obedience which means dutifully doing what one is told to do without protesting.

Why is there a need to do everything in order? because otherwise there will be chaos. And when everyone and everything works in orderly fashion there will be 'harmony'.
To maintain this harmony, all things and beings have to obey the rules of nature.

We learned that being Obedient has its rewards.

Prayer - Is a means to thank God for everything he has given us and we come closer to God when we pray. And a means of having a conversation with God considering God as our friend!

How we can pray to God- by chanting verses, shlokas, singing bhajans, japa, meditation, going to temples etc. By doing this we can get closer to God, feel his love, care and kindness. And we can emulate the qualities of God in our day to day life by being helpful, compassionate, being thankful, kind and helpful to all.

We learned that God loves us a lot to give us blue sky, sunshine, mountains, rivers, birds, flowers, fruits etc. And we should always be thankful and bow to the Supreme Lord.

Story Time: Through the story of Gajendra Moksha, we learned that sincere prayers are always answered and we need to completely surrender to God by praying and God will definitely help us get through our challenges.

Please play the videos and show it to the children, they can practice. The playlist is linked in the description box of our class whatsapp. We have to memorize verses until 16 for our grade level.

Next class on 2/23/2025 it's spirit day! please wear our house durga daredevils' RED color or shades of RED. 

Class Rules and requirements: 

 

 

1. Children should bring their own copy of "My prayers" book, Ramayana coloring book (for coloring activity), Balavihar handbook (we provided on the first session) 9/15), pencils and erasers and crayons. 

2. Children may bring their own "spill proof water bottles"

3. NO snacks please. Please give them a good breakfast before coming to Balavihar. Also make sure they use the bathroom before going into the class.

4. Please bring the children to balavihar a few minutes before 9.15. We want to promptly start by 9.15. Please make sure the student is not late and may come latest by 9.20 and not later than that.
