Quiz/Refresh : We continued the revision quizzes covering past class stories, learnings. They are getting better with each class at remembering stories and names! We did a quick recap of Think, Truth and how this helps build trust , and on how practice would help us EXcel at anything !!
We covered two letters U & V this session.
Introduction : U for Unity. We started by accidentally dropping a bag full of crayons in the middle of the class. The children all immediately jumped into help pick them up. We were done clean up in less than half a minute! We explained that Unity is when everyone or everything is working together for a common goal. When we work in unity, we are able to finish any task much quicker.
Brainstorm : We discussed how our body works in Unity! Our eyes see food, hands pick them up and puts them into mouth, the teeth help break food down, stomach does the further break down and our entire body is energized. All our body parts look different , they function different - Yet they all work together!
Story & Game Time : Through the story of the four cows we learnt that we have a far better chance of protecting ourselves from an enemy if we stand united. We did the activity using ice pop sticks where children could break them as just one, but could not break them when ice pop sticks were bundled up. We learnt that Unity is Strength! Finally, Through the story of Old Man's Advice and the story of Pigeons and the Hunter , we reiterated that When we all stick together as one, then there is great strength.!
Attendance : Children responded with Hari Om as their names were called out.
Introduction : V is for Vishnu and V is for Victory!
We had learnt about Lord Vishnu during N for Narayana, and we decided to learn a little more about him. He cares for every single creature in the whole universe!
Story time : Through the story of The lord who gives food, where Lakshmi Devi tests her husband by putting a tiny ant inside a box and hiding it , thinking that Lord will not be able to feed this ant and later in the evening realizes that ant had a bit of rice which actually had fallen off from her forehead as she was closing the box, We learnt that Lord Really does take care of all and forgets none!
V is for Victory ! Children all agreed that at the end of Aarti, we all say Siyavar Ramachandr ki Jai, Pavana suta Hanuman ki Jai or Krishna Kanhaya ki Jai. Jai means Victory! Why are we saying may lord be victorious? We all have good and bad thoughts within us. Children gave examples of same like, elder sibling is drawing we know we should enjoy their art, but instead the 'Masti Mind' tells us to snatch their colors and run . When we pray, we are praying the lord to be victorious against all our bad thoughts and keep just the good thoughts within us! Victory comes with Hard work and when Truth always Wins.
Story Time : We spoke about the stories of Mahatma Gandhi, Swami Vivekananda and the noble cow to reiterate that Truth is God and Truth always wins!
we ended the class with a Movement Snack : We did walking , clapping , backward walking and adipradikshanam Japa! For each action we said Narayana!! Children had a lot of fun!
Children collected bags and headed to the hall to watch plays by 2nd and 7th graders.
Next Class : Next class is on 6th April.
We had a yet another wonderful ,fun session with the children filled with thoughtful questions and responses. We are looking forward to the next session.
