Nov 24, 2024 - Grade 4 (Sunday AM)

Hari Om Parents,

Welcome to our Grade 4 class, a quick recap of what was covered today.  Today was the 8th Session of our class.

We all met in our classroom -- "Kesava" and after everyone sat down we said our Opening prayers.

Opening Prayers: We all sat straight, criss cross, hands folded, chanted together 3 Oms, then Sahana Vavatu, Ganesha Slokha -Vakra Tunda, Saraswathi Slokha- Saraswathi Namasthubayam, and Guru Slokha - Guru Brahma.

Sloka Chanting: Mahamrityunjaya Mantra - we learnt this mantra and chanted it a few times.
Krishnashtakam- We together chanted Sri Krishnashtakam a couple of times.  Kids were asked to learn the chanting at home in the next few weeks.

Class Attendance was taken after this.

My 24 Gurus - We learnt about Next  Guru - Moon
 Who Am I ?
  • I am very beautiful
  • My looks inspire poets to write poetry

  • I am definitely Not Tall and Slim like your Ms.World

  • I am actually Rounded Side.

Discussion:
  • Moon appears to be changing with Time

  • Full moon day its fully round and bright

  • Makes the night look beautiful

  • New moon day - Moon is not visible

  • Days pass and the new moon becomes a full moon. (Goes through different phases).

  • Moon appears to be changing, but actually there is no change to the moon.

Everything in this world keeps changing with time, We discussed how everything changes over time, seasons change, newborn babies become big, and buds bloom into flowers etc.Only Bhagvan does not change.

Exploration: Gratitude Time –lesson from the Moon - Things Change, Circumstances change for Good, and Circumstances change for Bad.

When circumstances are good, we should Thank God for giving us a good time, and thank all of the people for bringing good time in our life.

When circumstances are bad, we should not lose courage and confidence, and be kind to the people who are in difficult  situations.

And help them in any way we can.

We discussed that 'NOW' is the Time for everything, Not yesterday, not Tomorrow.

We retrospected this through Gurudev's quote :

"Everyday is bursting with Opportunities for us to do and to serve, to express, to love, and to live. We must make use of these lush chances and diligently make our life rich, fruitful, and useful for others at all times.

 Today belongs to us

 Yesterday was

Tomorrow will be

Only today belongs to us

So, let us do our best Today"

                 -Swami Chinmayananda

Story time: This Too Shall Pass - Through the story This Too Shall Pass - we learnt that like the Moon, we should learn to Accept change and not be Elated or Perturbed by circumstances/ by change.

Brainstorming:  Do not Attempt The Impossible  - Through the story of the black puppy, we learnt that we should never attempt to do the Impossible, but accept it as is.

Bala Bhagavatam -

Stealing butter - Youtube link

Through this we learnt Krishna's divine quality - Sharing, compassion for all.

Brainstorming : We discussed why Krishna stole Butter, Milk, Ghee, Yogurt- Kids gave wonderful responses like that it was to help his hungry friends, and out of love, and compassion for his friends Krishna stole.

We discussed that all of the Gopis, and ladies of Gokula were always thinking of Pots of Milk, Butter, Yogurt and how they could sell it and make money. Krishna was always successful in constantly stealing milk, butter, ghee which the Gopis, and ladies of Gokula tried their best to save their pots of Butter, Milk, Ghee, Yogurt from him and were looking for new places to hide it.  But our naughty Krishna would always find it, no matter how careful they tried to be. By this, they were always thinking of Krishna and constantly remembering Krishna which is what Krishna wanted.

Lord Krishna wanted them to be far from Material things(milk, butter, ghee etc) and remember Him always.

Story time: Through the story of  Krishna The Divine Child - Eating Mud- we came to know how he showed Yashodha ma, that the whole Universe is inside his mouth.

Story time: Damodhara leela - Kubera's sons released (Nala Kubera, Manigriva) YouTube link -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhId_djrUPQ&t=19s

Through this story, how Yashodha maa struggled to tie Krishna with a rope to keep him in one place and how this incident led to a new Leela for our Krishna.

Bhagavad Gita : The below Gītā Chanting video(s) was telecast :

Ch5 - verses 6-7  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-UBrEeDpLA&list=PLwv-WSJSokEOQDCAt7bctEzYhrOtCO8up&index=5. We all chanted along with the video.

Likitha Japa: Kids were given papers to write Rama nama 1008 times before December 1st. Kids continued writing with a lot of Enthusiasm.

After this we all went to the Prayer hall for Aarthi and Pledge.

We had an Interesting class today and all the kids participated very well, enjoying the Leelas of Krishna with a lot of interest. Class slides will be shared in the whatsapp group.

Please note: Due to Thanksgiving weekend, and Sampoorna Ramayana yagna, there is no BalaVihar class for the next 2 weeks. Next class is on Dec 15th, 2024.
