Hari Om Parents,
Welcome to our Grade 4 class, a quick recap of what was covered today. Today was the 9th Session of our class.
We all met in our classroom -- "Kesava" and after everyone sat down we said our Opening prayers.
Opening Prayers: We all sat straight, criss-cross, hands folded, chanted together 3 Oms, then Sahana Vavatu, Ganesha Slokha -Vakra Tunda, Saraswathi Slokha- Saraswathi Namasthubayam, and Guru Slokha - Guru Brahma.
Today, each of the prayers was led by the students of the class.
Sloka Chanting: Mahamrityunjaya Mantra - we learnt this mantra and chanted it a few times.
Krishnashtakam- We together chanted Sri Krishnashtakam. Students of the class led this.
Bala Bhagavatam
We discussed Krishna's pastime and focused on the fruit seller story to help students learn the act of giving. This was followed by Krisha's move from Gokulam to Vrindavan, the attacks from Vatasura and Bakasura, and how little Krishna defeated them.
My 24 Gurus - We learnt about Next Guru - Sun
Who Am I ?
I am not a comedian
My presence brings cheer
I am valuable but don't come close to me
If people don't see me they get depressed
We had a very interesting discussion about the Sun God and how it creates and then easily gives it away. This lead us to discuss on what is one thing that we should all ask from Sun God. We all came to the conclusion that one thing we should ask is to keep our mind balanced so that we make the right decisions every day. This one aspect can bring us all that we need to live a peaceful and meaningful life.
We discussed the below poem from Rabindranath Tagore
He asked for something from me and I gave a grain to him from my bag. In the evening, I noticed, a golden grain of the same kind! And I cried! How foolish of me! Why did I NOT give my everything? I could have become the king, instead of a beggar!
The poem conveys a profound lesson about generosity and selflessness. The poem encouraged children to be generous and compassionate, showing that sharing leads to greater rewards than hoarding.
We then discussed Radha's Kalyanam and the gift we would get for the wedding and why. Kids had amazing gift idea and their reasoning behind them was even more amazing. Most of the kinds wanted to get butter, pictures of Krishna's pastimes, and a bowl for Radha so that Krishna would not break it.
Class Attendance was taken after this.
After this, we all did our closing prayers and Pledge, and then the kids were led to the main hall to enjoy the Radha Kalyanam.
We had an interesting class today and all the kids participated very well, enjoying the Leelas of Krishna with a lot of interest. Class slides (link) will also be shared in the WhatsApp group.
Please note: The next class is on December 22nd.
