Hari Om! Parents,
Wishing all Grade 6 families a happy new year - 2025!
Week 12 Class
We began with likhita japa, followed by opening prayers and chanting the Ganesha Pancharatnam, Mahalakshmi Ashtakam and learned verse 5 of the Mahishasura Mardini Stotram.
Mahabharata
Drona Parva - Day 11 of the Kurukshetra war continues with Dronacharya becoming the next commander-in-chief of the Kaurava army.
He vows to capture Yudhistira and bring him to Duryodhana. Karna joins the battle and assures Duryodhana of victory.
On day 13, Dronacharya organizes the Kaurava army into the "Chakra Vyuha" formation. Abhimanyu enters the vyuha but is unable to break out of it.
He is surrounded by 5 maharathis, is weaponless and is killed. Arjuna is heartbroken to hear the news and vows to get revenge. By the end of day 14, Arjuna kills Jayadratha.
Karna kills Gatotkacha using the Shakti astra that he had actually reserved for Arjuna. On day 15, The Pandavas trick Dronacharya into believing his son Ashwathama is dead.
When Dronacharya puts down his weapons in grief, Drishtadyumna kills him.
We discussed how the rules of fair play in war changed after the death of Bhishma, and under the leadership of Dronacharya several rules of war were broken.
Then the children took a stretching break and we spent some time discussing the upcoming grade performance. The children chose which part of the play they were interested in performing.
Grade 6 will be doing our stage performance on March 23, 2025, during the BV assembly. Please save the date and attend the program to encourage the children.
Please respond to the poll posted in the Parents WA group ASAP, so we can begin the planning soon.
