Hari Om Parents,
Today was the 13th class of Balavihar! Here is the summary of what we covered in class today:
Opening Prayers & Sloka: We started with three OMs and then proceeded with Opening Prayers - Sahana Vavatu, Vakratunda Mahakaya, Saraswati Namastubhyam, Krishnaya Vasudevaya, Ramaya Ramabadraya and Samudravasene Devi. A lot of the kids beautifully chanted the shlokas individually.
Yoga: Children did Thoppukaranam, Vrikshasana, Bhujangasana and the butterfly pose (Baddha Konasan).
Attendance: Attendance was taken, and each kid responded by saying Hari Om.
Introduction of the Next Letter: Today we had four JCHYKs joining us for teaching this class! We introduced the next letter M, which stands for Mother.
Brainstorming: We talked about all of the things our mothers do for us that we may overlook sometimes. We also discussed the various ways we can express love to our Mother by helping her, respecting her, listening to her and respecting her.
Story Time 1: Mommy's Love - through the Panda story (Mummy Panda & Baby Panda) we learnt that Mom's Love is with us always and is very powerful.
Story Time 2: P.S. I love you Mom - When you love someone, you don't demand anything in return. Similarly, everything our mothers do for us is a result of their love for us.
Exploration: We learnt that 'Mother Nature', 'Mother India, Mother USA', 'Mother Sruti', 'Mother Earth' and 'Mother Cow' are all symbols of Mother who we worship. They care for us, nourish us and sustain us.
Craft: The JCHYKs organized a wonderful craft activity! They used popsicle sticks, glitter, and markers to make photo frames for the pictures that they drew of their mom. All of the kids were so creative and artistics and made beautiful crafts for their mothers.
Activity: Kids completed the coloring sheets for M.
Recap: We did the Alphabet chant together until the Letter M.
We did the closing prayers and went to the temple for Aarti.
