Hari Om everyone,
We did start the class with what did we do over weekend, discussed the seva day activities.
We did chant 3 oms and opening prayer.
we did Pre cap that we learned till now.
Todays class we did cover Chapter 25 and 26.
Chapter 25
In this chapter we learned about:
-Sugriva had to keep his promise to help Rama to find Sita .As Rama already helped him. Sugriva was so lost and he kept drinking, listening music and all other pleasure activities and forgot about his promise. Seasons changed it was monsoon , so to be safe Rama and laksman went inside the cave and waited for sugriva. Few vanaras saw ravana abducting sita, sita at that time threw few jewels on ground so that Rama got a signal.
Sugriva wanted Rama to help him kill his brother vali. Sugriva said Vali is so powerful , Rama wont be able to kill him so he challenged him to defeat him. Lakshman said you don't know Rama's strength. Vali and sugriva started to fight and Rama was watching behind the tree. He kept on watching, in between sugriva came and asked him why aren't you killing vali. Rama calmly replied you both look so similar ,i am confused whom to kill. You go ahead and wear a garland in your neck so i can make the difference between both of you. As soon as sugriva goes out with garland, rama shoots an arrow at the other one and vali gets killed.
So now as per the promise Rama did kill Vali. now its sugriva's turn to fulfill his help to find Sita.
Chapter 26
-In this chapter we learned how the search began to find Sita.
All the vanaras gathered and made a plan to find Sita. They made small groups and went in all 4 directions to look for her. Each group had his own leader. But the last group departing was of Hanuman, angad, Jambuvan, neel, as they were about to go Rama called Hanuman and gave his ring to him and asked do give this to Sita and tell her i will come to free her. As he trusted Hanuman will surely get sita.
Month passed by all the groups came back . But the last group that went in South still didn't give up.
All were thinking lets go back or relax here in one of the Ashram, but they feared that Rama arrow might kill them. Hanuman was saying its been 14 long year of Rama being in forest and now he lost his wife , we should try to help him. While they were in the banks of river a vulture from the top of hill was listening all this. He heard the tale of Ravana kidnapping sita. He heard them saying they killed jatayau.
The vulture sitting up was Sampati, jatayu's elder brother. While they were young They both used to race to see how high they could fly. Doing this race once Sampati to save jatayu burned his wing while touching the sun, So he fell down and was waiting for his brother to come. He waited their as his wings were burned with no food or water. Hanuman and other vanaras gave him water and samapati helped them finding the way to Lanka. As he wanted to take revenge with Ravana as he killed his brother Jatayu. As he helped hanuman, he offered water to soul of his brother and doing this he had a new wing, he could fly now. In this was Rama helped him reviving his wings and he helped Hanuman by showing him the way to Lanka.
We did likhita japa for 5 minutes.
We practiced 2 prayers opening and closing prayers. We would have kids recite it at home as well.
Kids did color pages in the Bala Ramayan book.
We played freeze dance with Veera Hanuman bhajan.
We played meditation pebble counting game.
