Lesson:
Mahabharata:
The night before the war Sage Vyasa warns Dhritarashtra of the impending doom and offers him vision to see the war, which he declines. Instead, Vyasa grants Sanjaya the divine power to narrate the events of the war to Dhritarashtra. The Kauravas and Pandavas prepare for battle, with Bhishma leading the Kauravas' eleven Akshauhinis and Arjuna arranging the Pandavas' seven Akshauhinis in the shape of a Vajra.
Yudhishtira performs a noble act by seeking blessings from his elders before the battle and all wish him a victory which agonizes Duryodhana. Arjuna asks Lord Krishna to drive him up close to the middle of the battlefield where he could see both sides of the army. Lord places his chariot in a way where he could see all his Gurus and grandsire. Arjuna, overwhelmed with grief at the prospect of fighting his relatives, initially refuses to fight. Krishna then delivers the great Bhagavad Gita, providing Arjuna with spiritual guidance and encouraging him to fulfill his duty as a warrior. Krishna reveals his divine form to Arjuna, who then gains the strength to fight.
The battle begins with Bhima's roar and Duryodhana's order to attack. Bhishma and Arjuna engage in fierce combat, while Abhimanyu displays remarkable bravery and skill in archery, catching Bhishma's attention.
We discussed in detail on karma theory, soul's transmigration and how to break the cycle of karma and go beyond. Class had questions on the kala chakra and we watched a video which explained this.
