Apr 6, 2025 - Grade 7 (Sunday AM)

Hari Om Parents,

We discussed the following topics in Ramayana during today's class.
  • Sita Apaharan (Abduction):
We discussed the Lakshmana Rekha—a protective line Lakshmana drew before going after Rama. Some wondered, was it just a line? Or a full circle? We talked about how this line symbolized both physical and spiritual protection, and how Sita crossing it made her vulnerable to Ravana's trickery.

  • Jatayu's Valor:
Jatayu, the noble vulture, tried to stop Ravana. Even in his old age, he fought bravely and was fatally wounded. Rama mourned him like a father, performing his last rites—a touching reminder of Jatayu's devotion. We also wondered why didn't Rama use the Brahmastra against Ravana?

  • Sabari's Devotion:
We met Sabari, the elderly devotee who waited for years to meet Rama. She offered him fruits after tasting them to make sure they were sweet—an act of pure love and devotion. Rama accepted it with a smile, showing that bhakti (devotion) matters more than rituals. How old was Rama during this time of story?

  • Kabandha's Redemption:
The strange demon Kabandha turned out to be a cursed celestial being. After Rama freed him, he revealed important information about Sugriva, setting the next chapter of the journey in motion.

  • Ending Note:
The kanda ended with the beautiful moment when Rama met Hanuman—a meeting that marks the beginning of a powerful friendship and alliance. Hanuman then took Rama and Lakshmana to meet Sugriva, the exiled monkey king.

Our children were all amazing in last week's play. Here is the Youtube link for the performance. We request you to watch the show again with children and let them explore more about the choices all these personalities had to make.

Warm Regards,
Ra
