Hari Om parents,
With Swamijis blessing and Bhagwan's grace we start another year of Bala Vihar with our lovely children and we look forward to continuing this journey with them.
This year as you know, we start the vast topic of understanding Hinduism ( Sanatan Dharma), with slightly more serious content than in the past.
We introduced this in a light-hearted manner by equating this with the start of High-school, different from middle school. They had a lot to share 😁
In high school they are learning to be independent in preparation for adult life and in Bala Vihar also, we will introduce what it means to be a Hindu and the concepts associated, practices, and the why of what we do.
As a part of the experience, we will have fun activities spread throughout the year for High Schoolers as a part of the Youth Social for J CHYKs. They loved the idea and we hope to see all of them participate. ❤️
The children have all given us a small write-up of what they understand being a Hindu is. We will use this to map the progress of our sessions.
Then we played a quick ice-breaker game to introduce the class to each other and give them some information about each other. They quite enjoyed that.
We closed the class with the introduction of our theme this year 'Ishta Dev' to help them establish a personal connection with God. The children all thought and chose a God who appeals to them over others at this time. We suggest that you talk about this topic at home and in case you have a family tradition, introduce that to the children.
We were hoping to see you also at the end of the class, but!!!! Well, we have the rest of the year to get to know each other and work as a team for our children.
Hari Om and look forward to an enriching year to come.
Pranaam,
Jayashree and Richa
