Hari Om Parents,
We started our class by writing Likhita Japa (writing the name of any Ishta devata god's name) and chanted Daily Prayers.
During our discussion we went over a topic which led to Shivram uncle telling a story about Ramakrishna Paramahamas and Vivekanada.
Vivekananda who was known as Narendranath Dutt was feeling low as he was finding it hard to meet the ends. His manager suggested that he go see Ramakrishna pramahamsa who was a very famous saint.
Narendranath went to see him and Ramakrishna paramahamsa asked him why he came and he told he came for his help as he was in poverty and if he could help, he would be grateful. Swami Ramakrishna suggests going and seeking Maa Kali's help inside and to request her and she will give whatever he wants.
When Narendranath goes into the temple looking at the idol of Kaali Maa he prays in front of her. When she shows up and asks what he wants he just says give me knowledge. Once he comes back he realizes that he never actually asked Maa kali what he actually came for. This repeats three times and that's when he realizes that we need to ask for our higher goal in life when we are requesting god or guru.
Shivram uncle asked all kids what they want to do if the President comes to meet them and grant one wish. We got a lot of interesting responses, few of the children were either not sure and few wanted the GDP of the USA in their bank or wanted some trillions of dollars.
We practiced our class play and we thank all the parents who stopped by and confirmed the kids' participation. We are happy that few of them improvised their lines. Please share that with us. We want to edit our script to help correct the children if required .
We don't have class on May 23rd and we will meet on May 30th . Sharing the document for everyone's practice and please memorize and take print outs as well.
It was time for our Grade 4 play followed by pledge hence we all headed to our Prayer hall.
